Happy Friday! I feel a bit weird writing up a recap of last weeks training when this week is nearly done. Better late than never though, right? My main goal this week was to get an idea of where I’m at in terms of running fitness. Spoiler alert: not my fittest!!
Monday: Hill Reps
4 x 200m hill sprints
Well this was a perfect display of shockingly poor pacing! First rep at 7:30, last at 9:00 pace. I clearly started off way too enthusiastically. Oops…
Tuesday: Easy Run
3 miles at 10:00 pace
An easy 3 miles with Ricky, who was super happy to have been dragged out for his first run in ages 😉
My first strength training session in about 3 weeks, so guess who was sore on Thursday…
5km in 22:52 (7:22 pace)
Eesh, this was a struggle. The whole point was to figure out how far off my PB I am, but it’s still a bit disheartening to see it. I’m hoping it won’t take too long to get back to my former glory!
Later on Saturday we wandered along to Holyrood Park to catch some of the Edinburgh Cross Country. It was pretty cool but in hindsight would probably be more exciting to watch on TV where you can see what’s happening the whole way round
So, that was my week. Now that I’ve got an idea of where I’m at my mission is to get back to a sub 22 parkrun then push on for something even faster.
